A Love Solid as a Rock

I was at Valley of Fire this past weekend and was amazed time after time at the rock formations that were by all human standards, upside down. How is it possible that this huge boulder can rest on top of a tiny boulder and not come crashing down? How is it possible that a rock formation that is so seemingly upside down can withstand years of storms, strong winds, earthquakes, time? How is it possible that nothing shakes it, nothing causes it to crumble, nothing destroys the foundation, nothing? I was reminded that God, our Creator, works with glue that is beyond our understanding, that God, the Designer of our life, sets our path, secures our footsteps, strengthens our resolve, with a glue that the world will never understand.

Romans 8: 31+ asks the same type of questions and gives us the answer. “If God is for us, who is against us?” “How will He not also with HIM freely give us all things?” “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect?” “Who is the one who condemns?” “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” And then the beautiful answers – “God is the one who justifies”, “Christ Jesus is He who died, was raised, and intercedes for us”, “NOTHING can separate us from the love of God”. And probably the answer I love the most, “But in all these things, we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”

Did you catch that? We not only cannot be separated from the love of God, but we overwhelmingly conquer that which tries to separate us. We overwhelming conquer the things life throws our way – we go through it, but we conquer – because God goes through it with us, we can’t be separated from Him.

What a beautiful reminder during this Holiday season – all the lights, all the tinsel, all the gifts are reminders that God, loves us so much, that He gave His Son – so that we can live in right relationship with Him – unseparated, yoked, connected, victorious. Each light reminds me that we have the light of the world living in us! Each gift reminds me that we were given a gift that saved our very soul. Each holiday party reminds me that we are a part of the family of God and we belong!

Rock formations remind me that nothing can separate me from the love of God and I am more than a conqueror through Christ. Seasons remind me that nothing can separate me from the love of God and I have a Savior who intercedes for me with the Father. People remind me that nothing can separate me from the love of God and that God is the one who justifies me, not me, not my actions, not my words, not other people, not places, not things, not anything else but God alone. What an amazing gift! To be known by God, the creator of the universe; to be loved by God, the orchestrator of my life; to be accepted by God, the one who knit me together in my mother’s womb; and to know that He loves me so much that He will not ever allow anything to separate me from Him and He equips me with what I need to walk in overwhelming victory through everything that tries to separate me from Him.

My prayer for you is that today you walk in this assurance. You are loved by God, you are accepted by God, you are equipped by God.
